Vancouver, Canada, a glittering city on the Pacific, offers an array of experiences, whether it’s your cruise starting point, a port of call, or the final stop. Here’s how I made the most of my time in this vibrant city.
A Morning in the Rainforest
I began my day with a visit to Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. The journey into Vancouver's lush rainforest was invigorating. Walking across the thrilling suspension bridge, exploring Treetops Adventure, and conquering the Cliffwalk were all unforgettable experiences. The best part? A free shuttle from Canada Place took me directly there.
Granville Island's Charm
Next, I headed to Granville Island. This vibrant spot is a feast for the senses. I wandered through the bustling market, discovered artisan shops, and indulged in local treats. The island's energy was contagious, making it a must-see on any Vancouver itinerary.
Views from Prospect Point
Stanley Park was my next stop, specifically Prospect Point. Here, I enjoyed breathtaking close-up views of Lions Gate Bridge, the outer harbour, and the North Shore Mountains. Adding to the experience, I savoured some fresh fish and chips at Fresh on the Point.
Stanley Park's Natural Beauty
Exploring Stanley Park further, I walked along the seawall, relaxed on the beaches, and visited the Vancouver Aquarium. A delicious award-winning burger at Stanley’s was the perfect lunch break. The park's natural beauty, accessible by walking, biking, or public transit, made for a relaxing afternoon.
Adventures on Grouse Mountain
For some outdoor excitement, I ventured to Grouse Mountain. The mountain offered zip-lining and hiking with breathtaking views. Whether driving up or taking a shuttle, the journey was worth every moment spent on this magnificent peak.
Evening at Richmond Night Market
As evening fell, I made my way to the Richmond Night Market. This lively spot was a multicultural delight, featuring Asian-themed food, entertainment, and shopping. Easily reachable by car or SkyTrain, the market was a fantastic way to end the day.
Cultural Immersion at UBC
The next day, I visited the UBC Museum of Anthropology. The museum’s Indigenous art and cultural exhibits were both enlightening and inspiring. The scenic drive to UBC or the convenient public transit options made this a smooth journey.
A Unique Flyover Experience
Finally, I couldn't miss Flyover Canada. This virtual tour offered stunning global landscapes, providing a unique journey without leaving the city. Accessible by transit or SkyTrain, Flyover Canada was a perfect way to cap off my visit.
Making the Most of Vancouver
With so much to do and limited time, it’s essential to plan wisely. For a bonus tip, I found out that many hotels offer a free shuttle to Capilano Suspension Bridge Park from Canada Place. It’s a free ride there and back, ensuring you make the most of your Vancouver adventure.
